Twitter can’t shut people up! Get on #Gab!

Twitter is dishonest, biased, and are setting the stage for their own demise.

By continuously censoring the voices of conservatives, Twitter has created a marketplace for competition that actually values honesty, integrity, and free speech.  I said this several months ago, but now my prediction is coming true.

In a brief exchange with Wiki Leaks over the suspension of Milo Yiannopoulous (@Nero), Jack Dorsey (Twitter CEO) claimed they don’t censor speech, they only suspend people for breaking Twitter’s rules.

I am hereby calling this “truth challenged.”  Conservatives have been suspended and shadowbanned left and right.  It has been a long time since my tweets actually reached my followers with regularity.  The chance that my tweets would show up on the feeds or in the notifications of my 111,000 followers was throttled back tremendously.  I have received constant complaints from people that they were never seeing my tweets.  Now I have been fully shadowbanned, so I can’t even tweet someone directly or hold a conversation.  I see my tweets. You don’t.  Not unless you try very hard, by going to my timeline and looking for them. Twitter won’t even admit they shadowban people, yet ask any of my followers and they will confirm it.  They followed me for a reason and it’s not so that I would be hidden from them.  The reverse is also true. There are many conservatives who I follow whose tweets are hidden from me and their other followers.

If people are only suspended for breaking rules, why won’t Twitter ever tell anyone what rule they broke?  Twitter has been completely unresponsive to my numerous requests to know what rule I have broken.  Why?  Because they can’t think of one. They have simply censored me, because they are liberal and I am conservative and they have the sysop powers.  I have no recourse.  Or do I?

A brand new social media platform which is similar to Twitter has just sprang to life!  They have a 2 week waiting list just to have your account activated, due to the high demand.  There is one key difference that makes it stand out compared to Twitter.  They don’t censor.  The service is called Gab and is available here: Gab.ai.

Just compare the rules for Gab to the Rules for Twitter.  Which is easier to understand?  For the sake of brevity, I am including only 2 of the 18 links to the various rules Twitter has posted. Twitter doesn’t make it to the 3rd sentence before contradicting themselves on censorship.  Some people call this hypocrisy. Some people call it lying.  Their rules are so full of arbitrary things you aren’t allowed to do. They can interpret rule breaking from just about any tweet. For instance, our religious morals can be attacked all day long, but don’t you dare say anything negative about homosexual deviancy, or you just gave Twitter a reason to ban you.

All over the internet we are now seeing stories of Twitter being “financially challenged.” This is hysterical.  There is even talk of them being for sale.  There are many ideas that I could offer them to make tremendous amounts of money, but they certainly don’t want to hear from me and the first requirement for these ideas to work well would be for Twitter to become honest.  That seems a bit daunting for them. They may also want to think about hiring some adults.

I love Twitter.  At least the concept.  They have harmed the ease of its use with popup windows and they could use a few minor improvements such as the ability to edit typos in tweets.  What I don’t love is how dishonest and biased they have become.  I don’t love the fact that you can’t reach anyone in Twitter Support to save your life. They don’t care about you.  Their service is free, so that’s an excuse for you not to matter.  This is why Twitter is financially challenged.  When they silence voices that produce millions of impressions per week or even per day, they are hurting their own bottom line for the sake of creating a liberal echo chamber.  If Twitter allowed people to follow and hear from who they like then I would have no need to go to Gab.  But they don’t.  When they shadowbanned me, it’s not just me they are banning free speech from. Twitter banned 111,000 people from reading and responding to my tweets.  What rules did those 111,000 people break, Jack Dorsey?

I wouldn’t pay half price for a single share of Twitter stock right now, but I have some money burning a hole in my pocket to invest in Gab, if I could!

Twitter has made it impossible for me to use.  They have made it clear that I am not welcome.  They are dishonest and can’t even be reached to make an appeal with.  They know darn well I have been trying to reach them.  Well, fine. It’s off to Gab then and everyone who prefers free speech to the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda is free to join me.  Let the Exodus begin!

  22. Well, I got in the queue for Gab over a month ago, and have yet to hear anything back from them. They don’t have any links from their home page to anything other than the sign-up and log-in scripts to find out what is going on. Has anyone else here been able to get in, or are they really that far behind?

    • No, they aren’t that far behind, so either they missed you somehow or you missed their e-mail. Look for an e-mail from someone named Eleanor. Look in your junk mail. If it has been over 2 weeks, you can contact @GetOnGab on Twitter and they will help expedite it.

      • The way my email program is set up, nothing goes directly into junk. It all ends up in my inbox, where whatever the program thinks is junk is flagged as such. It can be a pain, but I set it that way long ago after a couple of important messages did not get to me.

        When I go to the Gab home page, I see two choices: “Get me in the line” or “I’m already signed up, take me to login”. When I click “Get me in the line”, and enter my email address, I get a message “The email has already been taken.” When I click that I am already signed up, I am asked for a user name and password, which I obviously do not have. So I click on “Forgot password” and enter my same email address as requested, and get a message “We can’t find a user with that e-mail address.” I have had the same email address for about five years and I am the only one who uses it. It looks to me like some kind of glitch.

        Anyway, I contacted their support via Twitter, and will wait to see what happens.

        • Their support will help you. You’ll get another e-mail. That is how their sign in works. It knows that you registered that e-mail address already but that an account hasn’t been set up with it yet. That happens after you click the link they e-mail you. Then you will use that same e-mail address to set up your account with a user name and password. The e-mail I got and that everyone else I know got, came from someone named Eleanor.

        • If you DM me on Twitter, I can help contact their support, so they help you quicker. Just remind me of who you are. And if you give me your e-mail address, which I’ll do nothing with other than get it safely and privately to Gab Support, that would help a lot.

          • Well, I wrote you a message on Twitter, but I got an error that it could not be sent because that user (you) does not follow me. Then my message disappeared. While I have a Twitter account, I haven’t used it in a few years, so there is not much for you or anyone else to follow. I can’t see the point of jumping through too many hoops over this, so maybe I will just wait a few days to see if I hear anything back from Gab. Thanks for trying to help.

          • I finally made it! Eleanor said she sent me another invite, which I again did not receive. Then we used a different email address, and it went through. I still don’t know what is going on, but for some reason their messages were apparently being dumped along the way before they got to me. I will have to look into it.

          • Fantastic! If you tell me what your user name is on Gab I can follow you. As for your e-mail, I wonder if there is another layer of spam blocking you aren’t aware of somewhere?

          • I think this page ran out of “Reply” buttons, so I clicked on the closest one I could find to your last message. Anyway, the problem was in fact due to a spam filter, not on my local mail client, but on the webmail server, where all of the email goes before it is downloaded to my computer. I don’t know what triggered it, but the messages were being deleted entirely without spending any time in a junk folder, so I never saw them. After I disabled the webmail spam filter entirely, the Gab messages were able to go through. So at the moment, I have two Gab accounts following you—one as Debbie53 with the alternate email that is in the process of being deleted, and the other as Debbie_D with the address I want to keep. Eleanor was very helpful. Don’t expect any great “tweets?” from me any time soon, as I am still finding my way around, but you are welcome to follow me.

  31. If Gab’s business model requires you to wait after being signed up, it is already heading for failure. Twitter may suck, but there was none of this waiting nonsense. I have been waiting for almost three weeks for some kind of sign of life from Gab. This is 2016 and social media; I should not have to wait more than three minutes to start using a service.

    Gab, listen up, ’cause it looks like you need to hear some basic business advice: here’s how you expand your user base: 1) I give you my email address; 2) you send me a confirmation, 3) I start using the service.

    • It’s not Gab’s business model, it’s their constraint of being in beta right now. I wish I knew more. Ok, after replying to you here, I reached out to Gab support to find out what you should do. They said that they are sending out thousands of invites per day, but if you waited longer than 2 weeks, reach out to @getongab on Twitter and they will be able to assist you.

    • You have heard of having lives outside of the computer right? Plus since they are new its hard to get a grip right away of everyone in need so either learn some patience or get off the web because frankly you cant handle the web.

  32. I signed up for Facebook and Twitter accounts several years ago just to try them out, but hardly ever use either. I have hated Facebook from the beginning, due to privacy and censoring issues, but feel stuck there because so many people I know insist on communicating through it. Way back, I tried following a few people on Twitter but seemed to end up with more tweets than I had time to read, and basically abandoned it. Lately Twitter has been pestering me with emails trying to get me to use their service again. Maybe they are starting to lose users?

    I just got in line for Gab with over 7,000 people before me, and already have an account with Diaspora, as an alternative to Facebook. We need to start a free speech revolution to send both Twitter and Facebook to the dustbin of history where they belong. I hope to see you on Gab whenever they let me in.

    • It’s well worth it! I’ve only been on for an hour and without putting any effort into it have had more interaction than I have had on Twitter for days, due to the censorship they have put on my account.
