Opinions change, so I started a new poll to choose your favorite candidate for the Republican Primary!  Please leave a comment if you think I should do more periodically, perhaps weekly.

  1. I somewhat understand the support for Trump, because he speaks his mind and is not a career politician. However, I think he is too hot-headed to be a good President. A good leader needs to be strong, but also diplomatic, choosing his words carefully. I can just imagine Trump telling off some Middle Eastern leader who rubs him the wrong way, and starting another war. He is too much into theatrics and doing things his own way, and can be verbally abusive of anyone who doesn’t agree with him. Frankly, he scares me.

    While the media and the Republican establishment will most likely promote another “Democrat-lite” as being more “electable”, I think the general voting public is ready for a change. My favorite candidate by far is Ben Carson. I don’t believe he will be influenced by lobbyists, whom he has called the fourth branch of government, because of the way they manipulate Congressional votes in their favor. He is a Washington outsider, not running for self-aggrandizement, but rather to serve the people of this once great nation. He has a wisdom and sincerity that are truly refreshing, and is able to remain calm under pressure without backing down.

I hope that Congress will not allow this “deal” to go through. And if the UN doesn’t like it, they can go where the moon don’t shine…
      But that is a different subject. I agree with you about Dr. Carson and am baffled that the media don’t pay more attention to him than they do. Are they in disbelief ? Are they rummaging for negative information ? He wrote books before he ever thought of entering politics and we know 1000 times more about him than we know about our Narcissus.
      Dr. Carson is innovative, trustworthy and transparent. He is good-looking and has a great sense of humor. He is a self-made man who has a good relationship to his God. He loves this country and wants to elevate the level of education so that our children will be informed voters and citizens. He calls a good education the pillar of freedom. ( Actually, I interpret here ..)
      I encourage everyone to go to youtube and listen to and watch his speeches. It is impossible not to be inspired, especially now that so many of us feel totally disenchanted with politics.
      Hm – I had better stop here less someone should accuse me of being partisan ! : )

  7. I don’t take polls too seriously, as who votes in any given poll really depends on who was asked, either by professional pollsters or friends and acquaintances. It is difficult to get a truly unbiased cross-section of the voting public. Nevertheless, they are interesting to watch. The one thing I truly hope for in this election is that the candidates, and ultimate winners, will be chosen by the grassroots voters, and not the media or vocal special interest groups.

    On the subject of WordPress polls, I just tried to post a comment and the script tried to force me to use the identity of a group WordPress site I help to administer. I am posting privately as myself, not as a representative of that site, and so had to use a different email address. So much of our personal information seems to be tracked and linked.

    • That must be a WordPress thing. I am new to it, but I certainly haven’t done anything to force people to expose their identities. If there is such a setting and you know where I can turn it off, I am happy to do so. Also, yes, polls are just fun.

      • I know you didn’t do this, and I don’t think you can do anything to prevent it. We need to supply an email address to post here, which is pretty standard anywhere. Apparently a WordPress script then searches its database, and when it finds a matching address, adds in the user name and website that go with it, and won’t let you change it. It isn’t so much that I object to exposing my identity. The problem is that the website that comes up doesn’t even belong to me. I only help to administer it, and don’t want to be seen as posting on these forums on behalf of its owner.

I am new to this, There are these two settings, which I have turned OFF, so I have no idea why it is asking for your e-mail address. ” Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” and “Users must be registered and logged in to comment.” I have both OFF. I can’t see your e-mail address, at least not in any way that I know of. I wish there was something I could do.

  9. Heres a novel idea lets OBEY the USA Constitution this time around and vote for a legally qualified ‘natural born” American’ as is REQUIRED by the USA Constitution. that LOVES America, our values, laws and morals and will obey and enforce the USA Constitution.

    At least Trump is legally qualified to run for the Presidency that’s more then you can say for a LOT of them… Cruz, Rubio, Santorum, Jindal & Romney are NO more legally qualified to run for the presidency then the treasonous muslim currently and illegally residing in the White House .. their fathers were NOT American Citizens’ at the time of their birth which is REQUIRED.. Our forefathers stipulated that to assure alliance with the USA ..NOT his daddy’s nation as you see the corrupt obama currently doing.
    When a child inherits the citizenship of their father, they become a natural-born citizen of the nation their father belongs regardless of where they might be born. It should be pointed out that citizenship through descent of the father was recognized by U.S. Naturalization law whereby children became citizens themselves as soon as their father had become a naturalized citizen, or were born in another country to a citizen father.
    BOTH PARENTS must have been U.S. CITIZENS AT THE TIME OF HIS BIRTH in order for a Presidential hopeful to qualify as a “natural born citizen” under our U.S. Constitution!! Natural born” is VERY different from any other category of citizenship, i.e. “native born”, “naturalized”, or “citizen by statute” Christy and Bush are LIBERAL hillary wannta be’s … NOT conservative .. 2 party ..is just the same ole same old corrupt political crowd be it republicans’ or democrats.. they are so much a like you can’t tell the difference they are more concerned about their OWN personal pocketbook then IN obeying and enforcing the USA Constitution .

    • No law says that both parents must be citizens. Cruz is not a naturalized citizen. He is natural born by law. No law exists that says otherwise, which is why it is never produced. Obama’s problem wasn’t location of birth or having only one U.S. citizen as a parent. His problem was that he never provided authentic documentation and his mother failed to meet contemporary residency requirements of the time period to qualify Barack as a natural born citizen. We should try not to defeat our own credibility by getting these things wrong. Also, while Trump is saying a lot of great things, he needs to be vetted too. He is by no means a constitutional conservative. Right now, we need to all take a step back and evaluate all of the candidates with logic and not allow ourselves to become sycophantically devoted to any one of them.

    • The database of poll participants should be collated perhaps in late September, and closed to new member participants. Then with the control group of that membership, urge us to vote weekly to track how that membership changes over time in its preferences and maybe some ancillary questions.
      (just thinking like a Census guy, I guess)

    • Ben has been CALLED to lead us in our fight to #TakeBackAmerica. He has not been “bought & paid for” by anyone & then “offered” to us. Americans chose to draft Ben. He has stated he had been looking foward to his retirement and taking it easy….BUT then he looked at his grandchildren, and he saw Obama destroying our Constitution, and he realized he HAD to run for president. He wants all our children to grow up in a stable, powerful, and FREE America. Ben Carson genuinely LOVES America and has the wisdom and resolve to make America serve “We the People” again and not “Us the Government”.
      I had given up on America ever being what it once was…until I heard Ben speak.
      We don’t need another career polititian in the White House. We need a REAL American who speaks for us and will truly LEAD us in our fight against what Obama and other ilk like him are doing to this great country.

      • That is an impassioned testimony about Dr. Ben Carson and it is all true. I have not been this inspired by any political candidate in a long, long time. He simply must win in order to bring some fresh wind into the Oval Office. Trump picked up some of Dr. Carson’s ideas and arguments when he joined the fray. I did not see any media reporting that. I trust Dr. Carson and it has been a long while since I said that about any candidate as well. In my view, Trump is too volatile, while Carson is more level-headed, like in : speak softly and carry a big stick !

    • If you are going to cite the Constitution, at least try to understand it. Regardless of what youTHINK the Constitution should say about birthright following the father, this document proves unequivocally that it does not.

      CHAPTER 1-NATIONALITY AT BIRTH AND BY COLLECTIVE NATURALIZATION

      301 NATIONALS AND CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AT BIRTH

      SEC. 301. [8 U.S.C. 1401] The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:

      (a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof;

      (b) a person born in the United States to a member of an Indian, Eskimo, Aleutian, or other aboriginal tribe: Provided, That the granting of citizenship under this subsection shall not in any manner impair or otherwise affect the right of such person to tribal or other property;

      (c) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person;

      (g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided, That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States, or periods of employment with the United States Government or with an international organization as that term is defined in section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act (59 Stat. 669; 22 U.S.C. 288) by such citizen parent, or any periods during which such citizen parent is physically present abroad as the dependent unmarried son or daughter and a member of the household of a person (A) honorably serving with the Armed Forces of the United States, or (B) employed by the United States Government or an international organization as defined in section 1 of the International Organizations Immunities Act, may be included in order to satisfy the physical-presence requirement of this paragraph. This proviso shall be applicable to persons born on or after December 24, 1952, to the same extent as if it had become effective in its present form on that date; and

      (h) a person born before noon (Eastern Standard Time) May 24, 1934, outside the limits and jurisdiction of the United States of an alien father and a mother who is a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, had resided in the United States.

      • And contrary to popular belief, the Constitution itself doesn’t define what a natural born citizen is. That is left to the law, which has changed over time as your post indicates. The only word that the Constitution actually defines is “treason.” The founders, unlike many today, had dictionaries and knew what words meant. Interpretation of the Constitution wasn’t required. They could read. 🙂

    • No, your comment isn’t blocked. This is weird, I’m not sure why it would let you vote twice. The settings on the poll say that it should be blocked by cookies. Maybe you have cookies blocked or something? I’m no expert at this. Creating polls was just a feature built into the blog site.

        • Yeah, I am only using the polling app built into the blog site. I don’t know why it lets some people do that, but I think it blocks voting time and time again, at least within a short time spam, using cookies. I suppose if people block cookies it may have an effect. I just really don’t know.

        • Well ~ don’t you all know that the dead voted in the last election and their votes were counted and Pole workers said they voted three times and were counted in Ohio ~ so don’t be alarmed but do encourage all people to come out to vote, offer to baby sit, or take them free of charge Just get more people out to vote. And By the way. You should do a lot of praying for a Man of God to be called into this position as President of our USA. Take a look at Dr. Ben Carson and listen, read and study this man. I have reason to believe he is going to WIN/BEN/WIN and this Man of God is going to help us have another Chance. II Chronicles 7:14 Inquisitive minds should read this one ~ it is powerful.

          • Amen Georgia! Ben Carson has Wisdom, is compassionate, and NOT a ‘politician’ that would enable the corrupt cabal to continue to conduct business as usual.
            Ted Cruz is the only candidate currently in DC that I would vote for – he has attempted to right the wrongs, but has had no support from the good ol’ boys who have been in control and abusing power for TOO LONG!
            We need leaders who not only possess knowledge, but Wisdom and understanding, as well.

  11. TRUMP IS THE REVOLUTION!!! The Pataki votes are most likely for Trump as this layout is not the greatest. I believe someone is completely skewing the Cruz votes…Trump skyrocketed in votes, gets ahead of the others by 60%+….then in less than an hour, all of a sudden Cruz votes skyrocket as well…this has happened a few times. Not to say Cruz doesn’t have support, but his show of “support” here does not reflect numerous polls nationally. Perhaps the site itself is biased, or a hacker having fun….regardless, Trump WILL be our next President!!!!

    • I know Trump is certainly not the most moral, most honest, most trustworthy man running and that’s good enough reason not to vote form him. Go for the character then go for what comes out of their mouth. Otherwise how can you trust what comes out of the mouth.

      • I have to agree. I have been following Dr. Carson for a while now. At first he didn’t seem like he had quite figured out how to play the political game, but he is always honest and caring, and respectful of other people, and willing to listen to them. When he speaks, he can tell it like it is, in plain English, without being obnoxious or rude.

  16. TYVM, cause @GOP needs to zero in🎯on winning ticket w/ clearly representative position of & for it’s constituents. I suggest @ least monthly; then, more frequently, eg bi-weekly, by late Summer / early Fall‼️
